Talking Art Series - Guggenheim Abu Dhabi
24/09/12 Manarat Al Saadiyat

Join a discussion on representing art from the Middle East within the collection of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. Guest speakers Iftikhar Dadi, Associate Professor and Chair of the Art History Department of Cornell University; independent scholar Layla Diba; and Sheikh Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi, columnist and Chairman of the Barjeel Art Foundation respond to a series of questions relating to the collection of the future museum: How do we define the avant-garde in the Middle East and who are its artists? How are their histories shared? What role does the UAE play within these histories?

This forum is part of an ongoing series in which audiences are invited to participate in discussions with artists, scholars, curators and thinkers around the key themes and ideas informing the development of the collections, exhibitions and educational programmes of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

Presented by Abu Dhabi Tourism Culture Authority in collaboration with Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
